An Invasion Island Story
Oirgins of the Book

The Forgotten Prince emerged from a long-standing commitment to telling Ireland’s ancient stories with seriousness and depth. Conceived initially as a film project centred on the Brian Boru saga, the work developed over many years of historical research and screenwriting.

When the screen adaptation did not proceed, the story was reimagined as a novella to preserve the world, themes, and characters that had already taken shape. Rather than retelling the Battle of Clontarf from a conventional vantage point, the narrative is framed through the perspective of Donnchad mac Briain, Brian Boru’s youngest son, offering a more intimate and human entry into one of Ireland’s defining moments.
